Laminated timber has an inherent resistance to fire and humidity

laminated timber is used for primary frame because of its high spanning and load bearing qualities

Polycarbonate is durable and less expensive than glass and allows adequate light into my building from all directions to support the plant life

Also my building is relatively open and naturally ventilated, as plants don't do well in environments that are too hot.

Fir rafters don't need treatment because of low water content
Almost any length is possible with finger joining
Fir is used for most building details because it can be used both on the inside and outside of the building without being treated hence cutting costs

A gutter drip is required because of the roofs gentle slope

The sill of the window is located on the inside because that region of the building boarders the woods and a sill could house unwanted wild life
I used raft foundation because the lower ground level helps secure the building in place
