The big draw was a method of workshop precedent analysis in which we were required to synthesize pieces of precedents from existing buildings in real time into the context and scale of our proposed building projects.

This is a large scale space frame installation next to the Central train station in Naples. I was drawn to the open nature of the space and its outdoor-indoor feel and its ability to maintain some level of thermal comfort and protection from the weather while keeping the space open and allowing sunlight through.

It is a steel frame and laminated timber build which looks light weight and open. Here, the materiality helps support the program by using wood and naturally occurring tones, It creates a soothing atmosphere. The Flederhaus is a complex of sleeping areas designed for relaxation.

As humans it is only natural to be attracted to light and bright colours and this is a beautiful example of its use in architecture. It is a light installation in a horticulture center that livens up the atmosphere at night.
