Where did the crime occur?

Stretford, Manchester

Overview

Stretford is a one of the important towns in Trafford, Greater Manchester. Stretford has been home to Manchester United football club since 1910. Some of its famous residents include Manchester's first multi-millionaire John Ryland, the painter L.S. Lowry and Joy Division front man Ian Curtis.

Brief History

In the 18th century, as Manchester continued to grow, Stretford became a good and easily accessible market and was known for its  agricultural products, in particular rhubarb, once known locally as Stretford beef.

By 1836, market gardening had become so extensive around Stretford that one writer described it as the "garden of Lancashire". In 1845, over 508 tons of vegetables were being produced each week for the Manchester market.

In the background we have the Iconic town hall and A56 motor way in conjunction with the adjacent mall and Essoldo building make up the town center
